Week of Sept. 23
Week of September 23, 2024
Here is a snapshot of our week ahead:
Math:
This week in math we are going to finish our review of math concepts. We’ve covered a lot so far! This week we are going to be reviewing 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes as well as how to read different kinds of graphs and data charts. At the end of the week we will take our beginning of year math assessment.
We will have math homework each night.
Language Arts:
In Language Arts this week, we are going to do some more work with reading nonfiction, or informative texts. We are going to keep reading about animals. We will go over how to compare and contrast different texts and how to find main idea and details in a text.
We are on week 3 for our spelling words. Students will be sent home with a spelling list each Monday. I will post the spelling list to our web page as well. We will take our spelling test on Friday. Students will have some time at school to practice words, but they are encouraged to practice a few words each night at home as well in order to learn them all!
Science:
Our first unit in Science is all about force and motion. Students will be learning about what it takes for an object to move and how objects can move differently.
Social Studies:
We will continue to learn about communities in our first Social Studies chapter. We will learn about rural, suburban and urban communities and how communities change over time.
Upcoming School Events:
We have Fitness every Monday and Wednesday. Please be sure to send students to school with tennis shoes so they can participate!
