Language Arts: This week we will continue unit five in our benchmark curriculum. In unit five we will learn about technology. This week we will learn how technology affects our lives.

This week we will learn about adjectives. We will write complete sentences using adjectives.

We will work on reading and spelling long o words.

Spelling: This week’s spelling words are: home, boat, coat, open, over, grow, joke, no, go, & pillow.

Math: This week we will continue unit five in math. This week we will learn about hundreds, tens and ones within place value.

Science: This week we will continue to discuss similarities and differences between plants and animals.  

Nightly student homework: spelling words, math activity worksheet, practice sight words, and read for twenty minutes. If you need another sight word list let me know and I can email one to you.

Reminders:

• Send a healthy snack with your student daily.
• Make sure your child has shoes for fitness. We go to fitness on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s
• We will go outside twice daily for recess. Please make sure your student is dressed for the weather.

Hello first grade families! Happy new year!!!

 Here is a look at the week!

We will be doing winter fast bridge testing and completing assessments on IXL to see student’s growth so far in LA, Math and Science this week. This week we will be reviewing skills learned so far this year. We will not have spelling this week.

Language Arts: This week we will review what we have learned so far this year. We will read stories and discuss the character, setting, and retelling the story of the stories we read.

This week we will complete sentences using verbs and nouns. We will work on reading and spelling words we have already learned this year.

Spelling: There is no spelling words or spelling test this week!

Math: This week we will review what we have learned so far this year. We will be working on IXL assessments.

Science: This week we will discuss similarities and differences between plants and animals.

New Year’s Resolution Calendar: This month each student will have a January calendar in their red homework folder. Each student has made a new year’s resolution to become better readers. Each student has decided to read and work on sight words for 30 minutes each night. Each night after they read please give them a smiley face on their calendar. If they read each night for 30 minutes and turn in their calendar on January 31^st they will be invited to a special reading party in February!

This week we will complete sentences using verbs and nouns. We will work on reading and spelling three letter blends.

This week spelling words are: three, throw, throat, street, strong, square, sprain, spit, splash, & scrap.

Spelling test will be on Friday.

Math: This week we will complete unit four. We review measurement and data. We will take the unit four math assessment on Thursday.  

Science: This week we will continue to learn about the effects of climate change due to humans.
