stories and learning about compare and contrast and cause and effect.

Math: We are going to keep learning about division and how it
is connected to multiplication.

Science: We will be learning about different animal
adaptations and our own adaptations

Social Studies: We are learning about the history of the United States.
 
Spelling: No spelling this week

stories and learning about different types of non-fiction text.

Math: We are going to keep learning about division and different methods to solve problems.

Science: We will be learning about different animal
adaptations and starting our research on our own animal.

Social Studies: We are learning the formation of the United States.

Schedule
 
Math: We will spend the first half of the week reviewing and testing on a last few skills to show how we've improved throughout the trimester before it ends. We will be working on addition and subtraction problems as well as word problems. We will also be working on geometry: what area is and how to find it.
 
Language Arts: We will be working on a variety of skills, including how to determine a writer's opinion and recognizing character traits in a story. We will also be working further on recognizing morphemes like prefixes, suffixes, and base words
 
Science: We will begin learning about life cycles.
 
Social Studies: We will be discussing how different regions can have different resources and how they are used!
 
Spelling:

Math: This week we will be returning to some earlier math concepts like place value and rounding to make sure the students have mastered those concepts before moving on to more challenging subjects
 
Language Arts: We will begin the week by discussing the genre of Science Fiction and then move on to discussing theme and how characters can move stories.
 
Science: We will continue to learn about weather and climate
 
Social Studies: We will start the week by discussing how different regions are affect by their climates and why

Hello 3rd grade families,

Schedule
Reading/Writing: This week we are reading historical fiction
stories and practicing going back into the story to find our
answers. We are also reviewing prefixes, suffixes, and base
words.

Math: We are continuing learning different strategies for
solving multiplication problems and working on multiplying by 6 through 9s. Start practicing memorizing facts at home!

Science: We will continue learning about climate and weather.
 
Social Studies: We will be working on a world map, labeling the
continents and oceans. By the end of the week see if your child can list all 7
continents and 5 oceans!
 
This week's spelling list:

We are also reviewing prefixes, suffixes, and base words.

Math: We are continuing learning different strategies for
solving multiplication problems and working our way through multiplication facts for 6 through 9. Start practicing memorizing facts at home!

Science: We will continue learning about climate and weather.

Social Studies: We will continue learning about the land and
water on Earth.

Social Studies: We will wrap up learning about Community with the creation of our own community posters and start  learning about the
land and water on Earth.

talking about point of view and what a character might be
thinking. We are also learning about suffixes and spelling plural
words.

Math: We are introducing multiplication this week, focusing on
counting equal groups.

Science: We will continue learning about the moon. Look for
the moon in the night sky and talk about how it is changing.
We are also working on an opinion writing piece about
whether we would like to be astronauts.

Social Studies: We will be reviewing our communities unit and
taking a quiz.

Hello 3rd grade families!
This is the first of my weekly posts which will provide you with information on our plan for 3rd grade for the week. This will include information like what lessons we'll be covering, our spelling list, and any important events that would be coming up. Please make sure to subscribe on my class page so that you receive this post via email!
 
 
Agenda
Homework is sent home on Monday and due on Friday! Make sure to check in with your child to see that it gets done, otherwise they have to spend time on Friday working on it! If you are looking for extra work for them, you can have them log in to IXL and practice lessons. Please reach out if you need login codes.
 
Reading/Writing: This week we are reading fiction stories and
talking about main idea and inferences. We are also learning
about suffixes and spelling plural words and beginning the construction of our opinion essay about space.

Math: We are reviewing our skills so far this year and we will
be taking a math test at the end of the week. Topics to be covered will be place value, comparing numbers, addition, subtraction, and rounding

Science: We will continue learning about the moon. Look for
the moon in the night sky and talk about how it is changing.

Social Studies: We will be focusing on the different types of
communities.
